Team Design Challenge – Prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse

In the wild west of remote work, learning designers often find themselves isolated in their digital silos—missing out on those spontaneous “Whoa, that’s brilliant!” moments that used to happen around a whiteboard (or the breakroom coffee pot). And let’s be honest, nothing kills creativity like a string of back-to-back Zoom calls.

At Lexipol, where we build online learning for first responders, we saw the need for something more human—something that reconnects us across the virtual void and jumpstarts our collective creativity. So, we invented a little magic: Debrief Week.

Think of Debrief Week as part team jam session, part therapy, and part creative playground. It’s where we collaborate, reflect, and occasionally question our life choices—usually while designing something absurdly fun. Throw in our annual Design Challenges, and you’ve got a recipe for inspiration, friendly competition, and just the right amount of chaos.

This year’s theme? Zombie Apocalypse.
Because nothing says “instructional design” like the undead.

I decided to take a slightly… unorthodox approach with my submission. It’s equal parts entertaining, instructional, and brain-hungry. (You know, the essentials.)

🧠 Dive into the experience here. I hope you enjoy it as much as a zombie enjoys brains.
(Which, let’s face it, is a lot.)
